Saint-Julien - Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2020
The domain
For 300 years, six families of owners have nurtured an indissoluble link with the Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou. Forever captives of this prestigious domain, the Desjean, Bergeron, Ducru, Johnston, Desbarats, Borie. His people have rarely measured their praise for him. Over the decades, this devotion has been able to deny the accidental and the transient, as if passion were completing the work of nature.Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to these "beautiful pebbles", called grave gunziennes, quartz pebbles carried by the primitive Gironde at the beginning of the ancient Quaternary, probably nearly two million years ago. All you have to do is lengthen your steps in the vineyards to reap an abundant lithological harvest. Lydian from the Pyrenees, flint, quartz, agatoids... These Günzian gravels gave lean soils, whose agrological poverty guarantees the qualitative excellence of the wines. A natural election.
