Tasting: "The 2012 Promontory, which is the sweetest vintage to date, was slightly better this year than last as it rounded out. It doesn't have the depth of the 2013, but it's a great wine in itself.Notes of new saddle leather, loamy soil and crushed stone mingle with cassis, plum, tobacco leaf and spice in a full-bodied style, wonderfully pure and far-reaching, with ripe, well-integrated tannins. It's approachable enough to enjoy and, despite its massiveness, it's certainly capable of evolving beautifully for 30+ years." - The Wine Advocate |
