Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru - Domaine d'Eugenie (Domaine Rene Engel) 2013
The domain
The Domaine d'Eugénie was born from the acquisition of the René Engel estate by François Pinault in July 2006. It is located in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. This village is considered the pearl of the great red wines of Burgundy.
For more than two millennia, the Burgundy vineyard has been a real paradise for Pinot Noir, which produces unique wines of complexity, elegance and depth.
Since 2009, the Domaine d'Eugénie has been located rue de la Goillotte in the center of Vosne-Romanée in the former "Clos Frantin", which now bears the name "Clos d'Eugenie". Significant work has been undertaken to develop a complete and efficient winemaking site.
Our vat room is made up of thermo-regulated wooden vats of different capacities to be able to carry out a strict and precise plot selection, faithfully reflecting the diversity and complexity of our terroirs.
Today, the Domain is managed by Frédéric Engerer and a team of two experienced winegrowers. Learn more

Tasting: The Clos-Vougeot surprises us with its elegant straightforwardness. More reserved than the previous Grands Crus, Clos-Vougeot retains this solid and homogeneous structure. More powerful, it surprisingly combines the structure of Echezeaux with the finesse of Grands-Echezeaux. Since 2007, Clos-Vougeot has been produced by blending a cuvée made from destemmed grapes and a cuvée made from whole grapes. |
