Chambertin Grand Cru - Domaine Trapet Et Fils 2010

The domain

Domaine Trapet is a wine company made up of two estates, one in Alsace, the other in Burgundy. The company, in its current dual-region configuration, was created when Andrée Trapet inherited her parents' vineyards in Alsace in 2002. Her husband Jean-Louis has run Domaine Trapet Père et Fils in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1990, when which he succeeded his father Jean.

This last property is one of the great historic estates of the Côte de Nuits. The estate has 16 hectares of vineyards, led by the plots of Le Chambertin (a very large 1.9 hectares), Latricières-Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin.

The deep, concentrated wines from these grands crus are the flagship bottlings, but the Domaine Trapet Père et Fils portfolio also includes excellent Pinot Noir from three premier crus and two village vineyards, as well as red and white Marsannay. and highly rated Burgundy Reds and Whites.

Domaine Trapet-Alsace's portfolio includes bottlings of five grands crus: Schoenenbourg, Schlossberg, Sporen, Sonnenglanz and the recently added Mambourg. The village wines (Riesling and Gewurztraminer) come from Riquewihr and Beblenheim. A multi-variety Alsace Blanc, A Minima, is the counterpart to a Bourgogne Passetoutgrains Gamay-Pinot Noir red.

Both estates are operated according to the principles of biodynamics.
