Bonnes Mares Grand Cru - Domaine de la Vougeraie 2020
The domain
With the Domaine de la Vougeraie, we enter the very closed circle of the greatest wines of Burgundy. The impetus of the Boisset family and the choices made since 1999 have propelled the operation to an impressive level of excellence.
The property of the Domaine de la Vougeraie now extends over 34 hectares, of which the two-thirds are located in Côte de Nuits and one-third in Côte de Beaune, 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with a production of around 100,000 bottles depending on the vintage. The name Vougeraie takes its name from Vougeot, which is why the estate has 10 ha.
The domain, is judiciously installed in Premeaux-Prissey between the two coasts, and has made the natural choice of biodynamic, 29 hectares adopt this method of cultivation which promotes life in the vineyard and wines of obvious purity. To achieve optimum results, yields have been drastically reduced to harvest grapes that are still ripe and concentrated, often in whole harvests, and the team's vinification work is ultra-precise, combining ancestral techniques with modern technology.
The appellation Good Mares put a small foot on Morey-Saint-Denis, the largest on Chambolle-Musigny. Our vineyard is in Chambolle-Musigny only, but bordering Morey-Saint-Denis, in an old quarry. In the Côte de Nuits, on its middle part, where the influences of the terroir and the pinot noir are balanced.
