Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru - Domaine Georges Roumier 2017
The domain
The story begins in 1924, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. At his wedding, Georges Roumier settled in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, renowned for the delicacy of its wines.
His in-laws then entrust him with the keys to several vineyard plots, nestled in remarkable appellations: Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Musigny Grand Cru, and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses." Georges Roumier takes the time to carefully craft this vineyard. Year after year, he dedicates himself entirely to his climats, to express all their nuances. A pioneer, he even initiates bottling at the estate, at a time when trading dominates.
When his son officially succeeds him in 1961, Domaine Georges Roumier has already earned its reputation. Jean-Marie Roumier in turn carries on this heritage and helps it grow. 20 years later, he is joined by his own son, Christophe Roumier, a graduate in oenology. Together, they bottle their entire harvest starting from the 1983 vintage.
Since Jean-Marie's retirement in 1990, Christophe Roumier has continued the family adventure alongside his sister Delphine: an adventure intimately connected to the land, where nothing is more important than the perfect expression of the terroir…

Tasting: a blend that allows for a wine more complex than the best part of its two components. "Les Terres Rouges" provide richness, creaminess, and aromas of red fruits or even black fruits in some vintages. "Les Terres Blanches" express themselves through spice, white flowers, and even red peony with its peppery notes. The fusion of the two terroirs gives birth to a wine combining creaminess and firmness, fruitiness and minerality, the strength of a Morey-Saint-Denis with the complexity of a Chambolle-Musigny! |
