Sauternes - Château Suduiraut 2007

The domain

The Suduiraut estate extends over 200 hectares including 92 hectares of vines, on soil mainly composed of sandy-clay gravel. The vineyard's grape varieties are made up of 90% Sémillon and 10% Sauvignon. The proximity of the Ciron and the Garonne leads to a microclimate in the fall characterized by sunny and warm afternoons following misty mornings. In 1958 , the estate took the name of Suduiraut, following the marriage of Nicole d'Allard with Léonard de Suduiraut. The castle, pillaged then burned during the Fronde, was rebuilt in the 17th century, and renamed Cru du Roy at the end of the 18th century, following its takeover by a nephew of the Suduiraut family, Jean Joseph Duroy, Baron de Noaillan. The residence is then adorned with a cartouche where the arms of Suduiraut and Duroy are united, at the origin of the current coat of arms of Château Suduiraut. Magnificent French-style gardens, designed by Le Nôtre, famous gardener to King Louis was taken over in 1992 by AXA Millésimes, whose mission is to preserve and perpetuate the great know-how of the history and culture of wine with one objective: to allow great wines, from vineyards with a glorious past, to express their full potential.
