Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru - Les Amoureuses -Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils 2012

The domain

The Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils is a wine estate located in the town of Morey-Saint-Denis, on the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. The majority of the producer's vineyards are in Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, where it produces a range of grands and premiers crus, primarily from Pinot Noir, Burgundy's most prized red grape variety.

The estate owns 7 hectares of land, including plots in the grand cru vineyards of Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze. Groffier also has the largest stake of any producer in the premier cru Les Amoureuses, producing competitively priced wines that are arguably more sought after than their grand cru counterparts. Sustainable practices are used in the vineyard, with herbicides banned since 2005.

In the cellar, cold maceration is carried out for five to seven days before fermentation. Punching down and pumping over are used throughout fermentation to ensure extraction of color and phenolic compounds. Oak maturation takes place in French barrels, the extent and percentage of which depends on the vintage.

The estate has been in the Groffier family since the 19th century, when it was established by Frederick Groffier. Robert Groffier took over in the mid-20th century and the estate began bottling its own wine.

Format : 75 cl

 Country: France

Region: Burgundy

Culture: traditional

Grape variety: Pinot Noir

Tasting: The bouquet is very expressive, with beautiful red berries - strawberries, raspberries with hints of blueberries and cherries. Fine spicy notes, very transparent with the minerality oozing from the glass. On the palate, the red fruits are very refined and delicate, pure and charming. Very good balance and freshness - the very essence of Pinot Noir. Delicious, dazzling beauty - that's how Lovers should be!
