Tuscany - Fidenzio - Podere San Luigi 2004
The domain
nnamaria TONI and her husband Elio TOLOMEI, owners of this small 3 ha estate between Piombino and Suvereto, do their utmost to guarantee an exceptional wine of a very high standard, with the help of oenologist Alberto Antonini.
Podere San Luigi enters the Gambero Rosso 2002 and Veronelli backs up the praise with excellent ratings.
As a tribute to his father, Annamaria gave his name to the estate's top wine "Fidenzio", produced in less than 3000 copies only

After reading several disparate posts talking about the Fidenzio on LPV and despite the somewhat bucolic images of Piombino that stick in my mind following my last visit to this city this spring (the blast furnaces, the power plants...) I decided to order the 2 wines of this property.

Tasting: A remarkable Chianti, named after its region of origin, Tuscany. Possessing lively acidity, soft tannins and lots of cherry character. From the hills and valleys that surround the medieval village of Montalcino, is born this distinguished and worthy of ages wine based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Recognized worldwide since the 1970s, Tuscan blends are composed only of international grape varieties or a mixture of international grape varieties and Sangiovese. The wine called Vigne Nobile di Montepulciano, made from Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese), is recognized for its finesse and power. This wine will go perfectly with red and white meats, cheeses, game. |
