Pauillac - The Forts of Latour - Château Latour 2010
The domain
The story of Château Latour dates back to the 14th century, when the original tower was built on the estate by Gaucelme de Castillon during the Hundred Years War. Today, the castle is the property of François Pinault and his group, Artemis. The 78 hectares of vineyard Latour, located in the appellation Pauillac, is based on an exceptional, not to say extraordinary, terroir, strategically located on the edge of the Gironde estuary. It is planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc without forgetting the Petit Verdot.
Second wine of Château Latour, the Forts of Latour is a wine aged with the same care as a great wine. Its difference lies in the use of new barrels (50%) used for its ageing. Its 2010 vintage presents a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (72.5%), followed by 25.5% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.

Tasting: this wine from the prestigious Pauillac appellation reveals a beautiful, very deep robe. Its nose, composed of red fruits is relatively complex. THE Forts of Latour 2010 is a pure, fine, aromatic and full-bodied wine. It develops rich and elegant tannins while remaining fat and long. It is an exceptional year which suggests a strong aging potential. |
