Pauillac - Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016
The domain
Grand-Puy-Lacoste is not in the hands of a large group, it is a purely family owned since 1978. Jean-Eugène Borie, a lover of vines and the Médoc, acquired it in 1978 and immediately gave carte blanche to his eldest son François-Xavier, who gradually renovated the château and the technical installations. Today, Emeline, his eldest daughter, works alongside him.

The Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016 is marked once again by a very large proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend: 79% which demonstrates the richness and potential of its terroir. This wine has a deep and brilliant purple red colour. The aromas of intense black fruits explode on the nose, reinforcing the character of very ripe grapes while keeping a nice mineral freshness. Everything is enhanced with a hint of spices and flowers. In the mouth, the sensations go crescendo: smooth, dense and complex. This 2016 has a very nice balance and a nice freshness associated with a long finish supported by melted tannins. Once again, we find in this beautiful vintage the expression of the great terroir of Grand-Puy-Lacoste which expresses all its richness, complexity and elegance. |
